Why do you require a non-refundable, $50.00 deposit in order for someone to register for a class?
By collecting a deposit we are better able to guarantee availability to prospective students. Once a deposit is received, a slot in a class becomes reserved for that student. That way we can carefully manage the number of students we have in a class (3 students minimum and 5 students maximum) in order to maximize the learning experience for all involved.

Where are the SAT/ACT prep classes taught?
All of our standard SAT/ACT prep classes are taught at private residences in the Beaverton, Oregon and Sandy, Utah metro areas. Class locations/instructors vary from course to course. Upon registration, you will be notified of your course's instructor and provided with a detailed map of how to get to the instructor's home. Our In-Home SAT/ACT prep classes are taught in YOUR home- you simply provide a room/table and we will travel to your home to teach the classes.

What are your In-Home SAT/ACT Prep Class sessions?
In response to student demand, we now offer our In-Home Prep Class option. For the price of $450 per student (minimum charge for class is based on 5 students regardless of class size), we will travel to your location and teach our SAT or ACT prep class to your group! This specialized class is taught in 6 sessions, 2 hrs. per session. Your group may range from 1-6 students. College Bound Test Prep will provide all the materials; you simply provide a kitchen table, den, family room or other area for us to instruct the class. Classes are taught by our most senior instructors. Please contact us for more details!

How do I ensure you have an opening for a specific class?
The best way is to call and ask! In Oregon, please phone Stephanie Short (503.591.0228) or Sarah Gardiner (503.259.9990) to check on class availability. In Utah, please phone Breezy Covington (801.878.9574) to check on class availability. Remember, that your spot in class cannot be officially reserved until we receive your $50.00 down payment and completed class registration form.

How do I register for the actual SAT exam administered by the College Board?
Unfortunately, we are not able to register individual students for the actual SAT exam. Students must register for the actual exam themselves through the College Board. This can be done on-line at the following link: www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/sat/reg.html. We encourage all students to register as soon as possible for the SAT exam that corresponds with the end date of the prep course they are taking from us. "SAT prep class" is a private business and is not associated with the College Board.

Are there any pre-requisites to take your SAT or ACT prep classes?
While there are no specific pre-requisites, we do recommend that all students at least have a working knowledge of Algebra II/ Intermediate Algebra and as well as some Trig for the ACT. Much of the math section revolves around principles learned in Algebra II. While we review many of these concepts in the class, students who have not previously been exposed to them will not gain as much from the review.

Will there be any homework assigned during the SAT or ACT prep classes I take?
Yes. We believe one of the best ways to learn the material is to both study it in class AND at home. However, we don't want to overwhelm our students with a lot of extra homework. Therefore, while we try to minimize the amount of material sent home (such as a practice exam, vocab worksheet, etc.), we also feel the amount of time put into the class will be rewarded on the actual exam. The average amount of homework a student receives equates to about 1-2 hours per class attended.

How many points higher can my SAT score be raised by taking your prep classes?
We feel that students will get out of the class what they put into it. The amount of points a score may raise will depend on several factors including: current level of understanding of SAT material, diligence in completing class homework assignments, prep class attendance, etc. On average, students who attend all their classes and complete their homework raise their scores 100-200 points. We believe our class provides ALL of our students the skills and confidence necessary to raise their scores. What they do with the knowledge they gain, however, is entirely up to them!

A personal copy will be given to each student at the first class. While we use this book thorughout the course, we customize all of our classes based on students' needs and give personalized instruction in the various subject areas. Additional materials and worksheets are also provided as part of the course.

I saw your flier posted in my high school's counseling center. Does that mean you are affiliated with or sponsored by the school district?
We mail information about our classes to several area high schools. School counselors often choose to post our fliers in order to let students know about SAT & ACT preparation options that are available to them. We are not sponsored by or affiliated with any school districts. However, in compliance with Beaverton School District policy, we have received authorization from them that allows us to post our fliers in the counseling centers of Beaverton School District high schools.
